6 challenge questions to plan your next steps - Grant Writing Simplified with Teresa Huff, Episode 73

6 Challenge Questions to Help Plan Your Next Steps + Free Worksheet [Episode 73]

Is it time to learn, to take action, or both?
Hint: It's probably both!

We Need Learning AND Action

The last couple of weeks we’ve been talking about the importance of both learning AND action. They really go hand in hand. I challenged you to do this in Episode 71, and last week in Episode 72 Courtney Vrablik of The Store was a great example of this.

At the end of the year I like to take some time to reflect and plan, although with people around the house, for me  it often spills over into January. In Episode 18 I gave you 6 questions to help you reflect on your year and look at your priorities for the new year. You can also download that worksheet in my Freebie Vault at teresahuff.com/free.

6 Questions to Reflect & Plan

Go back and listen to Episode 18 after you’re done here, but to quickly recap, those 6 questions were:

  1. What went well this year?
  2. What didn’t go so well?
  3. What was draining?
  4. What was energizing?
  5. What do I want to do (or be) less of?
  6. What do I want to do (or be) more of?

6 Challenge Questions to Get You Thinking

Today, in addition to those 6 questions, I want to issue some challenge questions. These will give you some food for thought as you consider your next steps.

  1. Was this a failure, or is it an opportunity to redirect my attention?
  2. What’s not being said? In other words, where do I need to step back and read between the lines?
  3. What am I ignoring or overlooking?
  4. Am I overthinking in proportion to the importance of this situation?
  5. Is it time to learn, take action, or both?
  6. Where do I need to challenge myself?

Take some time to sit with these and reflect. Maybe even journal some notes and ideas as you think through the questions. Your year will be better for it!
