Stop guessing

“Something's not working. We just don't know what.”

We’ve heard this from nonprofit leaders who are frustrated, worn out, and tired of spending time and money on grants without seeing results.

They’ve tried grants. Revised applications. Followed advice. And still, they’re left wondering:

  • Is it the applications?
  • Are we going after the wrong opportunities?
  • Is there something we need to change first?
  • What should we do differently?

That’s why we offer the Grant Strategy Analysis. More effort won’t fix the wrong problem.

What we do

You're too close to the work.

It’s nearly impossible to diagnose yourself.

We bring an outside perspective and the questions that help uncover what’s going on. We talk through your experience, review your ROIQ™ results, and dig into selected applications or fundraising materials. We look at what’s working, where things break down, and what actions will make your approach more effective.

Then we put our findings into a report with recommendations, priorities, and practical next steps. We meet again to walk through it together, answer your questions, and discuss how to put those recommendations to work.

In other words, we don’t just tell you what you want to hear. This is tough love from your friends who want you to win.

straight talk

We know what it takes.

We’ve done this for so long that we’ve learned what to look for. We can quickly identify patterns and connect the dots. We’ll help you understand what’s missing so you can get moving on your mission again.

What needs to change? And what's worth keeping?

We help you sort through, understand why, and decide what to do next. We’ve seen it all. Could be:

More is working than you realize.

Strengths your team dismissed as “just what we do” are often the most fundable thing you have.

The approach needs to shift.

Right instinct, wrong targets. Or the right targets, but you need to make a stronger case.

You might have skipped a step or two.

You may need to do some upstream work in order to be a stronger investment for funders.

You’ll get a written report explaining our findings, strengths to build on, areas for improvement, and prioritized recommendations with practical next steps. Your debrief call gives us time to walk through the report, answer questions, and discuss how to act on it.

The investment is $3,600. This includes the intake form, review of your ROIQ results, a strategy call, deeper review of 2 to 3 documents, a written recommendations report, and a debrief call.

Yes, it’s helpful for all of us. Your ROIQ results give us a starting point alongside your intake form, strategy conversation, and materials. If you’ve already taken the ROIQ, we use your existing results. If not, complete the free ROIQ before your strategy call.

Yes. If you want an outside assessment before investing in grants, we can review other materials, such as donor letters, annual report, or campaign content, and help you identify what to strengthen and where to focus.

Share 2 to 3 documents, up to 15 pages total. These may include past grant applications, donor letters, campaign materials, budget, annual report, your Case for Support, or an organizational overview. Prior grant experience is not required. Choose materials that help us understand the concerns you want to address. We may request a substitution if another document would give us a clearer picture.

Up to two people from your organization. Most often that is the executive director plus the board chair or the person who leads fundraising. Bring the people who will act on the report.

No. We diagnose, give feedback, and make recommendations; we don’t edit wtih this package. We’ll tell you what’s weakening your position and what to change.

Then we’ll explain why, and show you where to invest your energy instead. You leave with a clear direction, not a dead end.

You have the report and prioritized next steps to guide your team’s work. If additional support would help, we can discuss and make recommendations. We may have other options that are a fit, or we can recommend someone from our network of trusted partners.
